Who Are We - continued

Building Safety is the focus of NICE (North Idaho Code Enforcers) through our joint building code compliance efforts in the various jurisdictions. Through training, pubic awareness programs, certifications, and other avenues, NICE provides a continuous knowledge and growth environment for its membership, industry and the public.

The organization formally began in 1981.

Monthly meetings provide a format for all members and visitors to keep updated on various issues affecting our industry, such as financial, and provides a vehicle for sharing industry information in the form or updates, changes, as well as new methods and materials. Business related to the building industry and more.

Meetings are held each month at the Pizza Factory in Coeur d'Alene (Appleway & Hwy 95). Members and non-members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Meeting lasts from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and consists of a business meeting accompanied by industry training presented by local building industry businesses and organizations.

The focus of the monthly meetings is to keep membership current on the local building industry and the various influences that affect our industry. Topics range from engineering to building materials, to engineered products to industry innovations, to industry updates at the State and Federal level. Membership is made up of Building Code Professionals, Fire Professionals, Engineers, Architects, Designers, Professional Home Inspectors, Building Supply Companies, contractors, subcontractors, utility companies, and many other partners of the building industry.

Monthly meetings provide a format for all members to keep updated on various issues affecting our industry, such as new methods and materials, design and construct questions, changes in the industry, financial aspects that affect construction and permitting. In summary the meetings provide a vehicle for sharing industry information in the form of updates and changes.


Wagner Named As Idaho's Building Official of the Year for 2009

The Idaho Association of Building Officials (IDABO) has named City of Coeur d'Alene Building Services Director Ed Wagner as Idaho's 2009 Building Official of the Year at its 2010 IDABO Education Institute held in Boise January 25 - 29. This prestigious honor recognizes Mr. Wagner's professional stature and respect throughout the State of Idaho as a preeminent Building Official and reflects his statewide leadership in promoting IDABO's mission that includes placing the public health, safety, and welfare above all other interests, applying the special knowledge and skills of the membership to meet this goal, investigating and identifying the application of safety in the construction, occupancy, and location of buildings and related structures, supporting consistency and enforcement of the adoption of the International Building Code, other ICC Codes and related documents, supporting uniform regulation and legislation pertaining to building construction, and promoting the uniform application of zoning practice and interpretation. There are over 150 Building Officials in the state. Mr. Wagner currently serves on the Board of Directors of IDABO.

Mayor Bloem stated, "It gives me great pleasure to see Ed Wagner so deservingly recognized as Idaho's Building Official of the Year. Ed has long been known as knowledgeable, consistent, and professional. Not only does he know the code business, but he has a steadfast focus on customer service while serving our community."
